About Us

The Adult Education Center (AEC) represents the next chapter of the Adult Reading Center’s celebrated legacy. We are doing business under a new name and with a new logo and branding. This opportunity has afforded us to embrace what our organization has evolved into throughout our 33-year history of serving adult learners most in need to achieve their education and employment goals. Our new mission is to Engage, Educate, and Empower communities of adult learners by advancing literacy skills and employment opportunities to better achieve a better quality of life. Our vision is where continued education improves lives and builds better communities. We are excited to roll out our three-year strategic plan where the organization is focusing on building, implementing, and growing our reach and resources. We will continue to embody our values of respect, integrity, transformation, quality, diversity, and innovation while transforming lives through education.

The Adult Education Center is an Equal opportunity Employer/Program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities. (Please request reasonable accommodations a minimum of two business days in advance.) Relay Texas Numbers: 1.80 0.735.2989 (TDD) 1.800.735.2988 (Voice) or 711.

Adult education and literacy services are provided with support from the Gulf Coast Workforce Board to help individuals find a job, keep a job, or get a better job. The Adult Education Center supports, and the Board is committed to, providing a learning and working environment that promotes personal integrity, civility, and mutual respect free of discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity and gender expression, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
